Questions
to Clarity (Q2C)

A trademarked facilitation framework for examining a real circumstance, question or pattern — through a character, at a narrative distance.

What Q2C is

Not therapy. Not coaching. A method of narrative distance.

Q2C was developed by filmmaker and journalist Oboatarhe Ebiye Ikuku via A‑Bee Film Productions, over a decade spent across filmmaking, journalism, acting and teaching. It is a trademarked method and structured facilitation framework. At its centre is a single move: the participant selects a character through which a real relationship, decision, identity question or creative world can be examined. Speaking through a character creates enough distance to observe what is being said, what keeps repeating, and where the answers point. The questioning draws on journalism's own foundation — who, what, where, when, why, how — but it isn't a script. The facilitator follows the answer, and returns to it when something worth going deeper on appears.

"The character isn't a disguise. It's an instrument for seeing more clearly."

The method, in action

Two exchanges. This is what a Q2C session actually sounds like.

Q2C — Method Examples
Example 01 — Identity vs. what the character does
FACILITATOR — Who is your character?
CLIENT — My character is a successful tech entrepreneur. He's a millionaire. Very successful.
FACILITATOR — That's what your character does. Who is your character?
What a character does is not necessarily who a character is. Q2C can explore who they were before the title, and what remains once the role is set down.
Example 02 — Identity vs. perception
FACILITATOR — Who is your character?
CLIENT — People say my character is strong, cooperative, patient and generous.
FACILITATOR — I asked you who your character is. Who is your character when they are completely alone and not performing for anyone?
This is the gap Q2C works in — between who you are, and who you've been perceived, assigned or taught to be.

Who Q2C is for

Six situations people tend to recognise themselves in.

IDENTITYIdentity vs. perception+
When you're performing an identity instead of living it — falling into a role day to day, or inside one that was curated for you. Q2C explores the difference between who you understand yourself to be, and who you've learned to perform.
PATTERNSRecurring patterns+
When the same behaviours, relationships or outcomes keep repeating — people-pleasing, avoidance, self-abandonment, the same relationship dynamic on a loop. Q2C traces when it began, how it developed, and where it still shows up.
TRANSITIONSLife transitions+
Divorce, loss, a move, a new job, leaving a community behind, an entirely new stage of life. Q2C builds a clearer picture of how the character is actually experiencing the change.
DECISIONSStuck decisions+
Caught between options, circling the same decision, unsure if the choice in front of you reflects what you actually want. Q2C examines the reasoning, fears and assumptions underneath it.
CREATIVESCreative work+
For poets, screenwriters, actors, musicians, filmmakers and other creatives building characters and worlds — moving past what a character does, into who they are and why they exist inside that world.
PUBLIC ROLESPublic-facing roles+
When a title, career or public identity has become hard to separate from who you are — common in entertainment, tech, oil and gas, politics, corporate leadership. Q2C explores the person underneath the position.

The framework

Six questions. The facilitator follows wherever the answers lead.

Q2C — The Framework
Who
Who is your character?
What
What is your character experiencing?
Where
Where does this show up?
When
When did it begin?
Why
Why does it keep repeating?
How
How does your character respond?
Illustrative prompts, not a script — the actual questioning responds to what comes back.
